Cheltenham November Meeting: Who to look out for this weekend

Updated: Nov 20

Friday

The Glancing Queen is our first star on Day One, running in the Mucking Brilliant Paddy Power Handicap Chase at 1:45pm. As he continues his recovery, success for Dai Walters with Al Dancer would, however, also bee well-recieved. Elsewhere, Chris Gordon trains Unanswered Prayers in the SSS Super Allloys Novices' Limited Handicap Chase at 2:20pm. Hereditary Rule is another key player here, before old-favourite Ballyandy takes on the Glenfarclas Veterans' Handicap Chase at 2:55pm. Hermes Allen runs for Paul Nicholls in the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle at 3:30pm, taking on Hubrisko for Willie Mullins.

Saturday

Tommy's Oscar makes an appearance in the From The Horses Mouth Podcast Arkle Challenge Trophy Trial Novices' Chase at 1:45pm, though Monmiral and Pentland Hills look threatening for him. Pentland Hills won at Haydock before Huntingdon, and was beaten by a nose in his first appearance after a year-long break. Meanwhile, Stolen Silver leads the field in the Paddy Power Gold Cup Handicap Chase at 2:20pm, running for Sam Thomas under Sam Twiston-Davies. He won here in April, beating Simply the Betts, a smart prospect for Paul Nicholls who was a good second here in April.

Sunday

Excitement builds throughout the day to Edwardstone's appearance in the Shloer Chase at 1:45pm. What a horse he is, with five back-to-back wins last season. Look out for rivals Editeur Du Gite and Nube Negra, though. Nube Negra won this race last year and Editeur Du Gite, running for Gary Moore, did very well last season, picking up this meeting's Paddy Power Handicap last year. Beaten at the Showcase here in October, can he pick his form back up once again?
