For any jumps racing fan, this is the ultimate racing weekend away and is incredibly easy to arrange for a group of any size. The festival takes place at Leopardstown racecourse, just a short drive from Dublin City Centre; which in itself, is one the best party destinations in the UK & Ireland. The festival is on the first Saturday and Sunday in February; 6th & 7th 2021, meaning that you can leave work on a Friday and be back in the office for Monday morning.
This fixture was only recently launched in 2019 and has attracted a crowd from all over the UK and Ireland to enjoy quality racing, with eight Grade 1s and over €2.1 million in prize money. If there were ever another racing fixture or event that comes close to the supremacy of The Cheltenham Festival and the joy it brings to all racing fanatics, it would have to be none other than the almighty Punchestown Festival.
Punchestown is considered to be one of the most popular Irish tracks of the many that cover the country, and one that provides some of the best jumps racing action of the season. Held annually during the last week of April, the festival features five days of fantastic racing action with a total of 39 races including 12 Grade 1 contests.
The festival is considered the grand finale of the Irish jumps season with top class jockeys, horses and trainers from both sides of the Irish sea, converging on the Kildare turf to contest titles and confirm reputations.
